ADVENT and Christmas
When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.
+ Psalm 126
What does it look like to live as those who dream? The prophets, the psalmists, John the Baptist, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, Simeon, Anna, the shepherds and the Magi - they were all dreamers. They received, discovered, and responded to God's dreams for the world. This Advent, we step into the mystery and awe of God's dreams and pray they shape our reality.
Join author, professor, and Biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine as she explores the biblical texts surrounding the story of the birth of Jesus. Pastor Angie, Pastor Wendy, and Pastor Tyler will be leading this study based on Levine's book Light of the World.
Take a morning off from the hustle and bustle of the season to make space for quiet and reflection, conversation and connection. The retreat will be led by Pastor Sarah and includes videos, journaling, time to share with others, and a spiritual practice for waiting.
Collect food items to be donated to the Billings Food Bank at the end of Advent. Download the Reverse Advent Calendar, put it on your fridge or near your pantry, get a box ready, and start collecting! You can bring your box of food to the church on December 23 and we will bless the boxes on Christmas Eve and then send them on to the food bank!
Every Sunday during Advent (the four Sundays before Christmas Eve), we light candles in worship. Join us in this tradition by setting aside time each week to light the candles on your own or with your family.
Join Rev. Sarah for candle lighting and reflection on Zoom Sundays at 5 pm. Click below to find the Zoom link.
