Getting Started with Zoom
Covid-19 and the physical distancing it has brought with it has meant that we've all had to adjust our lives and ways of doing things. One of the big changes, for many of us, is the ways that life has moved online. At Grace, we've moved to Zoom, an online meeting app for things like Bible Study, meetings, and Sunday Morning Fellowship Time.
If Zoom is new to you, here's a quick and hopefully helpful way to get started.
Go to zoom.us and click on "Sign Up for Free" this will take you to a page where you will be asked to enter your birthday. This is to prove that you are a real person and not a robot.
When you've entered your birthday, you will be asked to enter your email address. That will be the way you log into Zoom in the future.
Zoom will send an email to you. Log into your email and open the message from Zoom, which will ask you to verify your account. Click on the button that says "Verify Account"
You will be asked if you are signing up on behalf of a school. Click "no".
Next, input your name and choose a password for getting into your account.
On the next page, you will be asked if you'd like to invite others to join Zoom. You can skip this step by clicking the button that says "Skip This Step".
You will be taken to a page that will ask you to click a link to start a sample meeting. When you click the link, it will ask you to download some software for your computer. This is safe and will not harm your computer.
Once it's downloaded, you can begin your Zoom meeting. You will be asked if you'd like to test your speakers and microphone or use computer audio. Click "Use Computer Audio".
Congratulations! You are set up on Zoom!
