Important Appointment Announcement

On March 5, Jennifer Maxwell, the Chair of Grace's Staff-Parish Relations Team received the following letter from Rev. Deborah Christine, District Superintendent for the Montana East District: Dear Members and Friends of Grace United Methodist Church, I am writing to share with you that Bishop Karen Oliveto in consultation with the Mountain Sky Cabinet intends to appoint Rev. Sarah Clark to Evergreen United Methodist Church, in Evergreen, Colorado, effective July 1, 2021. I am grateful for her leadership and ministry as she served Grace United Methodist in Billings, Montana. I pray God's blessing on your congregation and on Sarah in this time of transition. I invite you to take the opportunity to thank Sarah for her service with you. May God's Spirit and grace enliven and guide your ministry to the people of your community. Grace and Blessings, Rev. Deborah Christine MT East District Superintendent Mountain Sky Conference (You can see the letter from Rev. Christine here.)

From Rev. Sarah

Dear Friends, First and foremost, I want to thank you for seven amazing years of ministry together at Grace. It has been a blessing and an honor to serve alongside you as your pastor. I am so grateful for you and grateful for the ways that God has worked with us and through us and among us in our time together. I look forward to the months ahead that we will share in ministry, as we begin to emerge from the pandemic, and as we prepare for a transition and new chapter in the life of our congregation. Right now the Mountain Sky Cabinet continues to do the important work of appointment making, and are prayerfully and thoughtfully considering who will be the next pastor of Grace. They do so in consultation with the church's Staff-Parish Relations Team which is headed up by Jennifer Maxwell. Other members of the team are Deborah Cox, Sheryl Swanson, Paul Bray, and Linda Williams. I can assure you that the Cabinet is taking into consideration the specific identity of Grace, along with the values and the vision of the church. Our DS, Deborah Christine is in ongoing conversation with the SPR about what they consider to be Grace's specific needs, gifts, and graces, along with the gifts and characteristics of a pastor that they believe would best lead Grace into the future. If you have any questions about this process, feel free to contact Jennifer (montanamaxwell@gmail.com) or me (sarah@graceumcbillings.org) and we will do our best to answer them. As we enter this time of transition, I ask for prayers for the Cabinet as they continue their discernment of appointments, for the SPR as they continue their leadership work, and for my family and me as we begin this moving process. Please pray also for your new pastor, whoever they may be. I know that they will be blessed to be in ministry with you. Grace and Peace, Sarah
